Uber will alert you when surge pricing happens in your location, but it doesn’t tell drivers about it beforehand because it’s set in real time.

The impacted locations will show up on the map as either light orange or dark red if surge pricing occurs in your city; the light orange areas indicate smaller earning potential, while the dark red areas indicate greater ones.
